Our packing team frequently bring up that they think their parcels look scruffy when they leave us - because we insist on only packing with recycled materials. This process also takes longer than using new packaging because the old boxes and plastic protective fillings usually need rejigging to fit the gutter and fittings, but it is absolutely worth it to us.

Single use plastics is a hot topic in our office at the moment and we can't stand how much of it is in everybody's day to day business. But we have been doing our fair share to help the situation for a long time before the plastics disaster came to the media.

The Cast Iron Effect Company - is sister to Edge Building Supplies that sells a huge range of building materials - with an emphasis on building plastics. So when goods are delivered to the yard at Edge Building Supplies - every bit of packing material is saved into the packing rooms for the Cast Iron Effect Company - so that when we send our guttering, downpipe and fittings out with couriers we are not using fresh materials and nothing needs to go to waste.

The only downside is that the outside of our parcels will not look picture perfect and a scruffy outer to a parcel does not give a good first impression to a customer buying from us for the first time. But as we have 100% confidence in the gutter itself, and know that when the customer gets through the tired exterior of last weeks cardboard boxes and ripped up protective plastic filling - they will be so delighted with their cast iron effect gutter and downpipe that they will have forgotten how the box first looked!
