We've been able to plan ahead for this increase in demand now we know the patterns, and have made sure our stocks of cast iron effect gutter and fittings are on track, so as not to cause anybody any delay with their repairs or installations. We also have a lovely relationship with the couriers, that seem to be working with an impressively faultless level of service regardless of where shipments need to get to.

Current overview is that the building industry in general is quiet. So to see all of the orders coming in from up and down the country for the cast iron effect gutter that we manufacture here is really encouraging. We'd discussed an advertising campaign to stop our company getting lost amongst the competitors, but are blessed to know that we don't seem to be lost at all. This is good news as our advertising skills are much worse than terrific.

What is it that keeps our customers coming back to us? It's definitely not the fancy website or confusing discount codes or brain washing marketing campaign. It is ALL about the product. The 'effect' that makes the gutter imitate cast iron is unique to us. We like it because it is a more solid coating than others that we've seen, and more importantly it is much more matt which makes the system blend in more, a lot more authentically. And ... it's cheaper. Pounds and pence are sadly v important but by keeping our overheads super tight, we can sell the better quality cast effect gutter for the most sensible price.

Should you be looking to have your items delivered to anywhere other than the UK Mainland, please contact us for costings and timescales. All of our courier charges are charged at cost.

A typical mainland courier charge is £40 for the long lengths of gutter, and £5 for the smaller pieces if we're sending them alone. We deliver within 7 working days. But usually much quicker. We work between Royal Mail and DX whichever is the most suitable for your order.

Returning items.

If you need to return your items, we must be notified within 14 days of receiving your items. We will refund you by return of the items. No more than 30 days from when the order was placed.

If the return is due to a change of mind, or over order - the return courier charges are payable by you. We can advise on couriers etc where necessary if required. 

If the return is due to anything that is down to us - incorrect items / damages etc. Return charges are down to us, and we will send courier labels and organise courier collections. Whichever is most applicable to the individual situation.

That is across all of the delivery services, unfortunately there is nothing that we can do about it.

But we do get asked about cast effect soil pipe for homes where the cast effect gutter and rainwater system has already been installed, or is going to be fitted, and people want to match up the soil pipes.

We have just been involved in this situation on our home, and we are so glad that we matched up the soil pipe, the difference it has made is unreal. The effect is a bit like a good haircut from a top class senior hairdresser, you don't notice it has been done, but if it isn't done you seriously know it wants doing!

So on the back of this, in addition to the bespoke orders that we will carry on with, we are in the process of adding all the typically used soil pipe and fittings to the site in the matching cast iron effect. 

We have been busy over the past few weeks, working with our suppliers of the raw materials to make sure that our cast iron effect gutter and downpipe can remain within the same price range that we have always endeavoured to provide our customers. This has not meant taking any reduction in quality, but rather us organising our logistics to be as slick as can be, so that not a penny is wasted in transport or packaging. 

We have no concern over our quality standards, and we are very grateful for all the customer reviews that are put onto our website that confirm our belief that our product is one of the finest cast iron effect rainwater ranges in the UK. 

It is always tempting to improve and add to our range, and although we all prefer the classic black, maybe we could have a dabble into another heritage colour. So this could be the news of 2024. We are very lucky to have some beautifully renovated properties in and around our Tattenhall, Cheshire base, and are always taken with the heritage red colour on the downpipes and gutter, especially against the Cheshire brick built buildings. We will have to see what we can do!

If you can order your gutter in 2m lengths instead of 4m lengths - ParcelForce are still doing a very good job with their deliveries to all UK mainland. Or if you can only work with 4m lengths please send in an email first and I will confirm the current situation with the couriers.

However, the couriers are still extremely busy with more people having goods sent around the country, and sometimes their 48 hour service takes 72 hours. 

So, delivery within 7 working days is always achieved, but we like to try our best to beat this lead time, and more often than not 4 working days is the typical delivery time.

We are also able to offer shoppers a pick up service. We do ask that we are forewarned of customers coming to us so that we can make sure orders can be collected swiftly.
